"It is very unfortunate that a woman at the age of 62 year old was brutally murdered. It should be treated as rarest of the rare case and thus we want capital punishment for the guilty persons," said Kalayani Roy, Chairperson of Tripura Pradesh Mahila Congress at a press conference here.
She said the women wing wants the government to send the case to fast-track court for speedy trial keeping all the accused persons in jail.
Kalapana Das was found dead in her bed-room at Bridhinagar area in West Tripura district on April 16.
Based on an FIR, police have arrested four persons including former Sabhadhipati and her husband Jiten Das for their alleged involvement in the murder.
All the four persons were sent to police remand for interrogation for six days after being produced before a local court yesterday.
Sensing trouble, CPIM has already suspended the party leader.
