Car catches fire; four have narrow escape

Four family members, including two women, had a narrow escape after their car caught fire near here, police said today.
The occupants succeeded in coming out of the car in time.
Ranjit Singh and other family members, all belonging to village Tehang (Phillaur) were returning from nearby Chaheru village after attending a religious function yesterday.
When their car reached at Mehtan bridge on National Highway-1, it caught fire due to sudden sparking in it, police said.
A fire tender extinguished the fire but the front portion of the car was burnt badly, they said.
