Car Seat Headrest took to Twitter, where the Will Toledo-led music group blasted the Netflix series for portraying self-killing as "thrilling" and "cathartic suicide mission".
"As someone who contributed to the soundtrack for '13 Reasons Why', I am obliged to tell you all that it's kind of f****d," the post read.
"...Writers: please don't tell kids how to turn their miserable and hopeless lives into a thrilling and cathartic suicide mission."
Car Seat Headrest contributed their song "Oh! Starving" to the show.
Executive produced by singer Selena Gomez, the show has been in the line of fire of mental health organisations and the industry since it aired.
