Strong domestic and exports demand coupled with restricted supplies from producing regions shot up cardamom prices by 2.31 per cent to Rs 849 per kg in futures trade today.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for September shot up Rs 19.20, or 2.31 per cent to Rs 849 per kg in a business turnover of 394 lots.
Likewise, the spice for delivery in October contracts edged up Rs 5, or 0.60 per cent to Rs 843.70 per kg in 108 lots.
Analysts attributed the rise in cardamom futures to strong domestic as well as export demand in the spot market amid restricted supplies from producing regions.
