Cardamom prices fell by 1.28% to Rs 871.90 per kg in futures trade today as speculators trimmed positions amid low demand in the spot market against higher supplies from producing belts.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in December fell by Rs 11.30, or 1.28% to Rs 871.90 per kg in business turnover of 672 lots.

In a similar fashion, the spice for delivery in November traded lower by Rs 9.20, or 1.23% to Rs 738.10 per kg in 2 lots.

Analysts said off-loading of positions by speculators amid subdued demand in the spot market against adequate stocks position on higher supplies from producing belts mainly kept pressure on cardamom prices in futures trade.
