Continuing its losing streak for the third straight day, cardamom prices fell further by 1.39 per cent to Rs 1,042 per kg in futures trading today as speculators engaged in reducing bets, tracking a weak trend at spot market on easing demand.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in April fell by Rs 14.70, or 1.39 per cent to Rs 1,042 per kg in business turnover of 9 lots.
Likewise, the spice for delivery in May contracts was trading lower by Rs 2.80, or 0.26 per cent to Rs 1,067 per kg in 10 lots.
Analysts said offloading of positions by participants on the back of easing demand in the physical market against adequate stocks position on higher supplies from producing belts kept cardamom prices down at futures trade.
