Cardamom prices drifted lower by Rs 15.50 to Rs 931.60 per kg in futures market today as speculators booked profits at prevailing levels amid easing demand at the spot market.
Besides, sufficient stocks on higher arrivals from the major cardamom producing regions too weighed on the prices.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in May declined by Rs 15.50, or 1.64 per cent, to Rs 931.60 per kg, in a business turnover of 10 lots.
The spice for delivery in June contract was trading down by Rs 8.80, or 0.94 per cent, to Rs 930 per kg with a trading volume of 9 lots.
Traders said offloading of positions by participants amid sluggish demand in the spot market against adequate stocks position on higher supplies from producing regions led to the decline in cardamom futures.
