Cardamom plunges by 1.8% on profit-booking

Amid profit booking by speculators at existing levels and fall in demand in the spot market, cardamom prices were down by 1.79% to Rs 1,071.10 per kg in futures trade today.

Besides, adequate stocks position in the physical market on increased arrivals from producing belts put pressure on cardamom prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in February month plunged by Rs 19.50, or 1.79%, to Rs 1,071.10 per kg in a business turnover of 172 lots.

Likewise, the spice for delivery in March contracts shed Rs 3.60, or 0.31% to Rs 1,143 per kg in 64 lots.

Marketmen said besides profit-taking by speculators at existing levels,fall in demand in spot market, mainly pulled down cardamom prices at futures trade.
