Cardamom prices rose further by 1.60% to Rs 938 per kg in futures trading today as speculators enlarged positions on the back of rising demand in the spot market against tight supplies from producing belts.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in January advanced Rs 14.80, or 1.60% to Rs 938 per kg in business turnover of 545 lots.

In a similar fashion, the spice for delivery in February next year moved up by Rs 9.80, or 1.03% to Rs 963 per kg in 100 lots.

Market analysts said speculators enlarged positions, tracking a firm trend at spot market on rising demand against tight supplies from producing belts and this mainly kept cardamom prices higher at futures trade.
