Cardamom futures remain up on rising demand
Press Trust of India New Delhi Rising for the second straight day, cardamom prices were up by another 0.73 per cent to Rs 810.60 per kg in futures trade today as speculators widened positions supported by rising demand in the spot market.
Besides, restricted arrivals from producing regions and exports enquiries influenced cardamom prices.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in far-month October rose Rs 5.90, or 0.73 per cent to Rs 810.60 per kg in business turnover of 37 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in September contracts traded higher by Rs 2, or 0.25 per cent to Rs 811 per kg in 372 lots.
Analysts said speculators enlarged positions, driven by strong demand in the spot market against restricted supplies from growing belts mainly kept cardamom prices higher at futures trade.
