Cardamom prices fell by another 0.41% to Rs 840.50 per kg in futures trade today as speculators indulged in reducing positions, triggered by higher supply from major producing belts.

Besides, subdued demand in the spot market fuelled the downtrend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in May month declined by Rs 3.50 or 0.41% to Rs 840.50 per kg in business turnover of 152 lots.

Likewise, the spice for delivery in June contracts shed Rs 2.70 or 0.32% to Rs 834.10 per kg in four lots.

Market analysts said offloading of position by traders amid weak demand in the spot market against higher supplies from producing belts mainly kept cardamom prices lower at futures trade.
