Extending losses for the third straight day, cardamom prices fell by another 0.97 per cent to Rs 846.30 per kg in futures trading today as speculators indulged in reducing positions amid lower demand in the spot market.
In addition, adequate stocks position in the physical market on higher supplies from producing regions put pressure on cardamom prices.
At the Multi-Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in June month declined by Rs 8.30, or 0.97 per cent to Rs 846.30 per kg in business turnover of 266 lots.
Likewise, the spice for delivery in May contracts edged down by Rs 6, or 0.70 per cent to Rs 857.00 per kg in 2 lots.
Market analysts said falling demand at current levels in the spot market against adequate stocks position kept cardamom prices lower at futures trade.
