Cardamom rise 0.35% on demand surge

The spice for delivery in July contracts also edged up by 0.17%

Supported by pick-up in domestic demand and tight supplies from producing belts, cardamom prices were up 0.35% at Rs 793 per kg in futures trading today as speculators created fresh bets.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in in August rose Rs 2.80, or 0.35%, to Rs 793 per kg in a business turnover of 1 lot.


Likewise, the spice for delivery in July contracts edged up by Rs 1.40, or 0.17%, to Rs 802.50 per kg in 43 lots.

Analysts said fresh positions built up by speculators after pick-up in demand in the spot market against restricted arrivals from producing belts mainly led to the rise in cardamom prices.
