Cardamom prices rose by Rs 16.40 to Rs 1,305.80 per kg in futures market today as speculators engaged in enlarging their positions, taking positive cues from spot market on rising domestic and exports demand amid restricted supplies from producing regions.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in December rose by Rs 16.40 or 1.27 per cent to Rs 1,305.80 per kg in a business turnover of 34 lots.
Similarly, spice for delivery in January next year gained Rs 14.20 or 1.07 per cent to Rs 1,346 per kg with a trading volume of 15 lots.
Market analysts said besides rise in demand in the spot market, tight supplies from producing regions mainly helped cardamom prices to trade higher in futures trade.
