Cardamom up 2.7% on rising spot demand

Spice for delivery in February gained 1.94%

Cardamom prices today jumped by Rs 28.80 or 2.77% to Rs 1,067.40 per kg in futures market today after speculators enlarged their positions supported by good buying in spot markets.

Besides, tight stock position in spot market on restricted supplies from major producing belts supported cardamom prices uptrend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in January rose by Rs 28.80, or 2.77%, to Rs 1,067.40 per kg in business turnover of 743 lots.

In a similar fashion, spice for delivery in February gained Rs 20.90, or 1.94%, to Rs 1,095.80 per kg in 333 lots.

Market analysts said besides rise in demand in spot markets, tight supplies from producing regions mainly helped cardamom prices to trade higher at futures trade.
