Amid profit-booking by speculators and subdued spot demand, cardamom prices were down by 3.11 per cent to Rs 733.40 per kg in futures trade today.

Furthermore, adequate stocks position in the physical market and increased arrivals from the producing belts following peak harvesting season too fuelled the downtrend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in December fell Rs 23.60, or 3.11 per cent, to Rs 733.40 per kg, in a business turnover of 275 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in November traded lower by Rs 15.40, or 2.42 per cent, to Rs 620 per kg in 6 lots.

Marketmen said apart from profit-booking by speculators, sluggish demand in the spot markets, mainly kept pressure on cardamom prices at futures trade.
