The Asian Heart Institute where RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav has been admitted, today said a cardiac surgery was needed, based on preliminary medical investigations.
"Laluji is fundamentally a healthy person, as can be seen from the intense campaigning he has done. Based on preliminary reports, we can now confirm that a cardiac surgery is needed," Dr Vijay D'Silva, Medical Director, Asian Heart Institute, said in a statement here.
"A few reports are pending. The details of what kind of surgery is needed, will be available to us only after these reports come in. We will issue another update by 7 p.m.," it added.
The 66-year-old leader was hospitalised at the Institute here yesterday for a scheduled detailed medical evaluation.
