Case against former SP leader on attempt to murder charge

A case has been registered against a former Samajwadi Party leader on charges of attempting to murder an independent councillor here.
Santosh Pathak was attacked on Monday night when he went to Hanuman Nagar police station highway area to take part in a meeting being held there, Superintendent of police Shailesh Kumar Pandey said.
Former SP leader Devendra Gautam alias Guddu Gautam reached there and opened fire on Pathak leaving him injured, he said, adding, Gautam fled from the spot after the incident.
Forensic team has collected evidence from the spot, police said.
Pathak has been admitted to hospital and a hunt is on to nab Gautam, they said.
SSP Manzil Saini yesterday, in a meeting with Municipal council members, said than an independent probe will be conducted into the matter.
