The newspaper 'Namaskar Bareilly' published an article in its edition on October 7 in which alleged derogatory comments were made against a Sikh Guru, according to the police complaint made by a man named Manmohan Singh.
The newspaper's owner Kamaljeet Singh and editor Chandrakant Tripathi were last night booked under section 295 A of the IPC (deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings or any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs), Senior Superintendent of Police Satyendra Veer Singh said.
In the FIR, the complainant alleged that "historical facts were presented in a distorted manner and the article hurt the religious sentiments of the Sikh community."
