"Total seizure made in the general elections 2009 was Rs 38 crore. In these 18 Assembly segments and one Parliamentary constituency (facing bypolls), till today the amount seized and the worth of seized gold ornaments and such other articles is Rs 41 crore. This is higher than what was seized (in AP) during last general election," state Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwar Lal told reporters here today.
A whopping Rs 31.65 crore in cash (unaccounted money) and 1.74 lakh litres of illicit liquor had been seized so far, he said.
He said 275 complaints of various nature have been received from various political parties and others since the date of announcement of the bypolls and 117 of them have been acted upon.
The remaining 158 cases are being pursued and action will be initiated in a couple of days, the CEO added.
