The first incident took place yesterday at a house where the working couple had left for their offices while an elderly woman had gone to temple to offer prayers.
"When the elderly woman returned around 3 PM, she saw the door lock broken and house ransacked. As per the complainant, Rs 1 lakh in cash and jewellery worth around Rs 29 lakh were stolen from the house," said a police officer.
The second incident took place at the residence of one Kanak Sharma who had been out of town since April 18. He had gone to attend a family function in Uttar Pradesh. Thieves decamped with cash and jewellery worth Rs 20 lakh from his house.
"The incident came to light when Sharma's neighbour called him up in the morning to inform that the lock of the house was broken. When Sharma returned home he found cash and jewellery stolen," the officer said.
However, police said it has registered two separate cases. In the first case, the robbers have been identified with the help of the CCTV footage.
"Teams have been constituted to crack the case and we would be able to nab the robbers very soon," said a senior police officer.
