Cashew prices rose by Rs 5 per kg in the national capital today on increased buying by retailers and stockists to meet festive and marriage season demand.
Furthermore, tight stocks following fall in supplies from growing regions and higher demand from bulk consumers also supported the uptrend.
Cashew kernel No 180, No 210, No 240 and No 320 rose by Rs 5 each to conclude at Rs 820-850, Rs 720-750, Rs 650-660 and Rs 610-630 per kg, respectively.
Marketmen said fresh buying support from retailers and stockists to meet festive season demand against restricted supplies from growing belts, mainly pushed up cashew prices.
Following are today's quotations (per 40 kgs):
Almond (California) Rs 23,200, Almond (Gurbandi-new) Rs 10,600-11,100; Almond (Girdhi) Rs 7,100-7,300; Abjosh Afghani Rs 15,000-20,000.
Almond Kernel (California-new) Rs 795-820 per kg, Almond Kernel (Gurbandi-new) Rs 850-880 per kg.
