Chief Minister Raghubar Das today launched 'Jharkhand Cashless Campaign' and said the state would be free from corruption, middlemen and black money following cashless transactions.
It is Prime Minister Narendra Modi's desire to make transactions cashless in the country and his government would achieve it, Das said after launching the campaign from Nagri block in Ranchi district and urged the people to play their part so that the state becomes the first to do so.
Describing the day as historic for Jharkhand, the Chief Minister said Information Technology's contribution was important.
In the beginning it would be difficult but with the passage of time it would become easy and the government would make efforts in this direction, he said and sought peoples' cooperation.
To encourage the cashless campaign, Jharkhand would make mobile phones worth up to Rs 5,000 VAT free and the government would train all its employees about cashless transactions.
The state government would also make five departments cashless this year and by 2017 all departments would become paperless to realise the dream of cashless and digital India.

The direction towards Digital Jharkhand has begun when the government was formed, following which BPL families were getting grains through PoS that gave the state Rs 700 crore profit and the money would be utilised for the welfare of the poor, Das said.
Referring to demonitisation, he said it has failed Pakistan's "design and now there is nobody to hurl stones in Jammu and Kashmir."
"Extremists who used to put hurdles in developmental works would now be reined in following the currency ban and cashless transaction. Several scams have taken place in the last ten years encouraging corruption and bringing in black money which would be reined in by digital and cashless India," he said.
The state government would make provisions in 2017-2018 for BPL families who would get 35 kg of grains in a sealed sack. The sacks would be made by the youths who would be imparted skill training, which would in turn generate employment, the chief minister added.
