Cashless medical scheme for Assam govt employees

Assam Government today decided to provide a comprehensive, cashless medical scheme for regular government employees, pensioners and their dependents, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi announced today.
"A comprehensive cashless medical scheme for regular government employees, pensioners and their dependents will be initiated soon'', Gogoi said during a meeting with Sadou Asom Karmachari Parishad (SAKP) here today.
The meeting was convened as a sequel to a series of meetings between the Chief Minister and the SAKP to discuss and resolve various issues of the employees and pensioners.
Regarding payment of arrears to employees, the Chief Minister said the government would announce before Magh Bihu the amount of arrear to be disbursed to the employees.
On the issue of pay to muster roll workers at par with Grade IV employees, he said that the matter was with the empowered committee constituted for the purpose and the decision will be taken following submission of the report.
The Chief Minister further said that necessary modalities would be completed to declare Kati Bihu as a government holiday.
Assam Chief Secretary V K Pipersenia, Additional Chief Secretaries Subhash Chandra Das and M G V K Bhanu, SAKP President and General Secretary Basab Kalita and Nagen Das among others were also present at the meeting.
