Castorseed prices slumped Rs 53 to Rs 4,100 per quintal in futures trading today as participants reduced positions to book profits at prevailing higher levels amid subdued spot demand.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, castorseed delivery in October was down Rs 53, or 1.28 per cent, at Rs 4,100 per quintal and the open interest stood at 28,950 lots.
Also, most-active delivery in September contracts dropped Rs 36, or 0.88 per cent, to Rs 4,038 per quintal, with an open interest of 1,88,840 lots.
Castorseed for delivery in the current month slipped Rs 28, or 0.70 per cent, to Rs 3,959 per quintal, in an open interest of 93,140 lots.
Marketmen said lightening of positions by participants at
prevailing levels amid a weak spot market sentiment mainly contributed to the fall in castorseed prices.
Besides, fall in export demand too weighed, they added.
