Castorseed prices plunged over 2 per cent in futures trading today as speculators off-loaded their positions, triggered by a weak trend at the spot markets.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, castorseed for most-active November month contracts plummeted by Rs.102, or 2.22 per cent to Rs.4,486 per quintal, with open interest prevailing in 1,74,500 lots.
Castorseed for delivery in current month contracts also dropped by Rs.96, or 2.12 per cent to Rs.4,422 per quintal, clocking an open interest of 98,860 lots.
Market analysts said off-loading of positions by traders, taking weak cues from spot markets on slackened demand, weighed on castorseed prices at futures trade.
