Marketmen said thin supply and frantic buying by traders in spot markets mainly pushed up castorseed prices.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, castorseed for December contract shot up by Rs 103, or 2.37 per cent, to Rs 4,457 per quintal, with an open interest of 44,500 lots.
Most active near February contract climbed by Rs 91, or 4,376 per quintal, exhibiting an open interest of 1,53,810 lots.
January contract advanced Rs 86, or 2.04 per cent, at Rs 4,305 per quintal, clocking an open interest of 49,780 lots.
