Laxman Taviyad, resident medical officer of the municipal corporation-run L G Hospital lodged a police case against the marketing head of Dynamic Marketing House and director of Gujarat Pharma Company last evening.
The company and the marketing agency allegedly provided an antiseptic solution for eyes which contained bacteria. It caused partial blindness in four patients who were operated for cataract on March 11 this year. They developed eye infection after the surgery.
An FIR was filed at Maninagar police station against the two companies under sections 274 (adulteration of drugs), 275 (sale of adulterated drug), and 338 (causing grievous hurt by act endangering life) of the Indian Penal Code.
