The 43-year-old actress took her three boys Dashiell, 11, Roman, eight, and four-year-old Ignatius to New Zealand and they were enchanted by director Peter Jackson's impressive set pieces, reported Contactmusic.
Blanchett, who reprises her "Lord of the Rings" role as Elf ruler Galadriel in the movie, said, "They're getting to the point where they're not so portable and they choose to do less so it's been great to be with them. It is a pretty exciting place backstage on a film set, especially when you're young.
"I flew over for eight days and the boys came with me and it was wonderful for them to see the film set. They were so excited because they saw the 3D cameras ... They saw all the stunt guys and saw how things are put together," she added.
