The 'Chicago' star, who has had no formal acting training, was made an honorary fellow of The Royal College of Music and Drama in Cardiff in recognition of her work on stage and screen, reported Daily Star.
"We're delighted to honour this distinguished artist who has achieved international distinction in her field. She has made a significant contribution to the cultural life of Wales and raised Wales' profile within the arts industry worldwide," said Principal Hilary Boulding.
Zeta-Jones, 43, was unable to attend the graduation ceremony, but fellow Welsh star Matthew Rhys was there to collect his special diploma.
'Notting Hill' actor Rhys Ifans was also awarded a fellowship by the institution.
