"The government has taken the decision after a proper thought process. As the matter is now in the court, I can not comment more on the issue," he said.
"The proposal of ban was moved by the union environment ministry and not the food and civil supplies ministry. Therefore it should not be interpreted as a ban against particular food habits," Sahastrabuddhe told PTI.
Commenting on beef festival at IIT Madras campus, Sahastrabuddhe said, "It shows how low the opposition parties want to stoop. It is highly disappointing."
