CBI arrests 2 men for trafficking tiger parts

CBI has arrested two persons for allegedly trafficking tiger parts and recovered two skins, skulls and other parts of the endangered animal from them.
Panna Lal Khatik, a resident of Siliguri in West Bengal, and Anil, hailing from Samalkha in Haryana, were arrested by the agency for alleged criminal conspiracy and wildlife trafficking, CBI sources said.
"CBI has registered a case under section 120B (criminal conspiracy) of IPC r/w section 51 r/w 49 & 49-B of Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972 andbusted an organised network of inter-state criminal gang involved in illegal trafficking of wildlife skins, their bones and body parts etc," CBI Spokesperson R K Gaur said.
It is alleged that a gang was engaged in procuring wildlife material/articles, especially tiger and leopard skins, their bones/body parts, pangolin scales from different parts of the country and its subsequent smuggling to foreign countries, the Spokesperson said.
A consignment of two tiger skins, two skulls of tiger weighing about 12 kg and bones, body parts of tiger having weight about 34 kg, booked from a transport service provider based at Libaspur area Delhi, was intercepted by CBI.
