CBI arrests AGE, JE of MES on graft charges from Pune airbase

An Assistant Garrison Engineer and Junior Engineer of Military Engineering Services from Indian Air Force base at Lohegaon, Pune were arrested today by CBI for allegedly receiving a bribe of Rs 90,000 to clear the bills of a contractor.
Junior Engineer Meenu Gupta was arrested while receiving the bribe of Rs 90,000 and Assistant Garrison Engineer (AGE) R B Aher later, for being part of the alleged criminal conspiracy, CBI sources said.
"The complainant had alleged that the said officers had demanded a bribe of Rs 1.10 lakh for processing his bills of Rs seven lakh regarding civil work executed by his firm. The bribe amount was subsequently negotiated to Rs 90,000," CBI spokesperson said here today.
She said searches are being conducted at the official and residential premises of the accused at Nashik and Pune.
"CBI has registered a case against an AGE (contract) and a JE (QS and C) both working in the office of Garrison Engineer (Air Force), Lohegaon, Pune under section 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of IPC read with Section 7 of PC Act, 1988," she said.
