Two years after a state PSU firm official and his two children committed suicide allegedly under mental pressure to suppress corruption, CBI today arrested a contractor here on the charge of abetting them to take the extreme step.
V M Radhakrishnan, a contractor with Malabar Cements, was arrested by a CBI team headed its ASP Nandakumaran Nair from his residence here in connection with the death of the company's Secretary V Saseendran and two children in 2011.
According to CBI sources, Radhakrishnan had been charged with abetting the suicide of Saseendran and two children, whose bodies were found in their house on January 24, 2011.
Investigation and the arrest were based on the statement of Saseendran's wife that her husband had been under severe mental pressure to suppress corruption and irregularities in the company.
Death of Saseendran and his children led to public outrage with certain political quarters alleging that the company official had been under severe pressure to hide some of the corrupt deals involving contractors with "high connections."
Radkharishnan had been taken to Kochi, where he is expected to be produced before the special CBI court tomorrow.
