After nearly six years of probe into the murder of a Congress MP from Arunachal Pradesh, CBI has arrested a NSCN-IM rebel in connection with the case.
Hormi Muivah, who was referred as 'brigadier' within the NSCN-IM faction, was arrested from Jorhat district of Assam last night by a CBI team which had been tipped off by central security agencies, the agency said here today.
The accused, who is said to be close to the faction's 'general secretary' Thuingaleng Muviah, was wanted for the murder of Wangcha Rajkumar, who was shot dead on December 23, 2007 while playing badminton in Deomali Multipurpose Community Hall in Arunachal Pradesh's Tirap district.
A CBI team, camping in Jorhat since August 20, sought the help of local police to arrest the militant leader.
The CBI had been tipped off by intelligence agencies that the Hormi would be travelling to Jorhat, around 300 km from Assam's main city Guwahati.
A trap was laid with the help of police and the vehicle carrying him was intercepted, the CBI said, adding two more people were also arrested and handed over to police.

Hormi was produced before a magistrate who sent him to five days of transit remand of CBI for production at Tezu court in Arunachal Pradesh.
The investigations carried out by the CBI indicated that NSCN-IM cadres had allegedly assassinated Rajkumar and Hormi was the main conspirator in the murder.
Rajkumar had been close to Khaplang faction of NSCN and had received threats from rival NSCN-IM faction.
