The direction in this regard was issued by Justice S Sateeshchandran on a petition by Mohammed Fazal's widow, Mariyu, seeking a direction to the government to conduct an "effective and meaningful" investigation to bring out all conspirators involved in the murder.
She had alleged on May 29 that former Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan was privy to the conspiracy to her husband's murder and that immediately after the murder, he had declared that RSS was responsbile for it.
Mariyu had submitted that CBI was not taking steps to find out the "deeper conspiracy" and conspirators at higher levels. The pressure tactics by CPI-M were confining the investigation into a certain level leaving out the real conspirators, she alleged.
The prosecution case was that a group of assailiants had attacked Fazal, who switched over to NDF and killed him near Thalassery in Kannur district.
Six of the eight accused have so far been arrested.
The conspiracy was hatched to do away with Fazal as he changed his allegiance from CPI(M) to NDF and attracted more Marxist workers to NDF, it was stated.
