CBI files charge sheet against 11 in human trafficking case

CBI today filed a charge sheet before a court here against 11 accused in two cases related to alleged human trafficking in which six women were taken to the Gulf for prostitution over the past few years.
CBI sources said charge sheets were filed against 11 accused before Chief Judicial Magistrate Court at Ernakulam.
The agency registered four cases relating to alleged human trafficking through Nedumbassery International Airport, Kochi and Trivandrum International Airport to certain Gulf countries.
CBI took up the probe of these cases which were earlier registered by Kerala Police on the state government's request.
The first case was registered against eight accused, including a Civil Police Officer (CPO), a Sub Inspector and six others.
It was alleged that the accused in conspiracy with each other, fraudulently obtained the passport, in the name of a woman.

In furtherance to the conspiracy, one of the accused pasted her photograph on it, prepared fake/forged passport and used it to go to Muscat with connivance of a SI, Immigration Wing, Nedumbassery International Airport who was Officer on Duty at the counter.
The alleged human trafficking through this airport to Gulf countries involves conspiracy of various immigration officers, travel agents and private persons.
The second case was registered against seven accused, including a CPO, a SI, five private persons and the third against five private persons.
The allegation is that the accused, with dishonest intention to make undue pecuniary benefit, entered into a criminal conspiracy and offered women (from very poor families) jobs abroad with monthly salary Rs 20,000- 25,000.
They took them illegaly from Nedumbassery and Trivandrum International Airport to Muscat, Sharjah and further to Dubai and Ajman.
In furtherance to the conspiracy, the victims were threatened by the accused and subjected to physical torture and sexual assault.
