Special Crime Branch of CBI today got "deemed judicial custody" of Rajat Majumdar who was arrested by the investigating agency for alleged involvement in the multi-crore Saradha ponzi scam.
CBI sources told PTI that in the petition, it prayed that since the person was hospitalised he was not able for a physical production.
The agency made a "paper production" of Majumdar before an Alipore Court judge here who rejected police custody and granted "deemed judicial custody" till he became fit.
Majumdar, a former IPS officer with the West Bengal police, was arrested by the CBI yesterday after interrogation to probe his role in the scam as he was the proclaimed security consultant of Saradha Group.
Soon after his arrest, he complained of chest pain following which he was admitted to a government hospital and was still under observation by a team of doctors.
