CBI has no competitor in the arena of investigation and prosecution, but this status does not entitle its men to sit back and relax, the agency's chief Anil Sinha has said.
Speaking at the passing-out parade of Sub-Inspector Probationers of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) at its academy here, Sinha advised them to not conduct investigations to win laurels or medals, but continue doing their righteous 'karma'.
"I have said this on many occasions before that we have no competitor in the arena of investigation and prosecution. But having achieved that status does not entitle us to sit back and relax.
"Now, the real competition is competing with one's own standards of professionalism. Our goal should be to remain the best not just in the country, but to become the best in the world," he said at the passing-out parade yesterday.
Sinha urged the investigating officers to explore and experiment with new formats by reaching out to their international counterparts and domain experts in relevant areas in order to break the existing boundaries of thoughts and bring new understanding into practice.
The 82 new recruits had joined the CBI academy here on March 14, 2016 and underwent 32 weeks' training in a wide range of subjects.
Apart from basic laws and investigation skills, they were trained in the investigation of anti-corruption cases, different types of conventional crimes, the ways and means of collecting the evidence as well as intelligence, drug-related offences, human trafficking, wildlife crimes, investigation of cyber crime cases, collection of volatile data and seizure of hard disk, mobile forensic, forensic medicine, forensic science, investigation of crimes related to bank frauds, security frauds and other types of economic offences, etc.
