Identified as Bharat Thakor (25), a resident of Jadu village, the police seized an identity card, with a CBI logo on it, besides a letter pad from him late yesterday night.
"We received a tip off that Thakor, an unemployed, was posing as a CBI officer. To cross check his identity, we went to his house yesterday night, where we learnt that he was not telling the truth. He created an identity card to pose as a sub-inspector working at CBI headquarters in New Delhi," Deodar police station sub-inspector C P Vaghela said.
"Villagers told us that Thakor has been posing as CBI officer since 2009. He was also felicitated by locals for bringing fame to the village and his community by becoming a CBI officer," Vaghela said.
The police plans to produce him before court tomorrow and seek his custodial remand, Vaghela said, adding that it would also be probed if he had cheated anybody.
