CBI move against Ordnance Factory officials for graft
Press Trust of India New Delhi CBI has registered a preliminary inquiry against officials of an Ordnance Factory for alleged irregularities in purchase of bags to transport propellants for Pinaka rocket, the Defence Ministry told the Rajya Sabha here today.
In written reply to a question, Minister of State for Defence Jitendra Singh said "irregularities in purchase/ procurement of rubberized bags at Ordnance Factory, Itarsi, has been reported. These bags are required for transportation of propellant for Pinaka Rocket from one Ordnance Factory to another."
He added that necessary permission has been accorded to CBI on its request for initiating an inquiry against the then AGM of Ordnance Factory, Itarsi.
"CBI Bhopal has registered a preliminary inquiry against officials of OFI, Scientists of High Energy Materials Research Laboratory (a DRDO Laboratory), Pune and the supplier VLS Industries, Nagpur, for allegedly favouring the supplier by accepting bags of substandard quality at high rates," Singh said.
