CBI moves HC seeking transfer of Madan Mitra bail plea
Press Trust of India Kolkata The CBI today moved the Calcutta High Court seeking transfer of the bail prayer of West Bengal Transport Minister Madan Mitra, who is in judicial custody for alleged involvement in the Saradha scam, from Alipore district court where it was scheduled to be heard during the day.
The agency expressed apprehension that fair hearing might not be obtained before the district court and prayed that the bail plea hearing be taken up by the high court.
CBI's application for transfer of the case is likely to be heard tomorrow before the court of Justice R K Bag, before whom the matter was mentioned today.
The minister's bail prayer was to be heard by the district and sessions judge of Alipore Court, before which it was filed.
Mitra was arrested by CBI on December 12 last year. His bail prayers were rejected earlier by the district court.
