Grey Iron Foundry, Jabalpur, is a manufacturing unit of Ordnance Factory and is one of the leading foundries in the country.
The raids were carried out at eight places including the GM's office at Jabalpur and residences and offices of GIF union leader Arvind Giri here on "leads" that "massive corruption" took place in the appointment of 70 Fitters in GIF, CBI SP Manish Shrotri said.
The swoops were also carried out at seven places of Shabbir Mansuri, Dulichand Vishwkarma and J N Tiwari--suspected accomplices of Giri---at Katni near here, he said.
The agency has seized various incriminating documents related to properties of the duo while details of their bank accounts and cash are awaited.
The office of the general manager was sealed by CBI after the raid, he said, adding Giri, Mansuri, Vishwakarma and Tiwari have been booked under provisions of Anti-Corruption Act.
According to sources, Mansuri and Vishwakarma allegedly accepted Rs 2.50 lakh from Tiwari as an illegal gratification to "facilitate" his appointment as a fitter at GIF.
"We are doing our work and collecting papers and other relevant material. We will take action against the company officials if their involvement is found," Shrotri added.
