The Allahabad High Court today ordered a CBI probe into allegations of disproportionate assets against three officials of the Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Corporation (UPSIDC).
A Division Bench comprising Justices Sunil Ambwani and Naheed Ara Moonis passed the order on a petition alleging that Sanjay Tiwari, Manmohan and Anil Kumar, working with the UPSIDC as executive engineer, superintendent engineer and town planning architect respectively, have amassed assets disproportionate to their known sources of income.
Observing that "delay in investigation can often be fatal to collection of evidence", the court asked the CBI to conduct "preliminary investigation" and submit a status report within three months.
"We also direct that the Managing Director, UPSIDC, will ensure that the relevant records are made available to the CBI and the investigation is not hampered," the court said.
