He said no compromise would be made regarding the security of the temples and security of the valuables in temples would be ensured.
Detailed inventory would be maintained in the temples as per the guidelines issued by the Commissioner of endowment department. Registered evaluators in Dakshina Kannada would be deployed to assess the value of the jewels and a copy of the catalog would be kept in the office of the Deputy Commissioner, a statement said.
The temples with safe rooms should ensure that staff in charge did not misuse the valuables. The temples must compulsorily appoint two watchmen during night. Accepted regulations should be followed while appointing security personnel to safeguard the temples, the statement said.
The temples in the State are divided into A, B and C categories based on their income.
Temples with an annual revenue above Rs 25 lakh per year fall under the A category, between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 25 lakh in the B category and those whose income is less than Rs 10 lakh are in the C category.
