Fair trade regulator CCI will rope in more institutions to carry out competition assessment of economic legislations as part of its continuing efforts to curb possible unfair business ways.
Guidelines are already in place for competition assessment of economic legislations and policies. Such assessments are aimed at understanding whether there could be any anti-competitive elements in the legislations and possible modifications that can be effected.
According to the CCI, the guidelines are to facilitate objective and transparent assessment of select upcoming or existing economic legislations and policies from the competition perspective.
Now, the Competition Commission of India (CCI) is looking to empanel more agencies to carry out initial competition assessment of economic legislations.
Institutions with expertise in law, economics, finance or management are eligible to apply. They will carry out initial competition assessment of the economic legislations or Bills referred to them, as per a public notice.
"The institution shall be included in the panel based on an evaluation of its abilities as demonstrated by it in a sample competition assessment," it added.
Expression of interest can be submitted by the institutions till July 31.
An institution selected will be part of the panel for three years and is eligible for re-empanelment.
