CCP polls: No liquor sale on offshore, onshore casinos for 3

The sale of liquor on all offshore and onshore casinos in and around the city would be prohibited for three days due to upcoming election to the Corporation of City of Panaji slated for Sunday.
Directions in this regard have been issued by the district magistrate declaring March 5, 6 and 8 as dry days in and around Panaji area.
All 30 wards of CCP would go to polls on March 6.
There are four offshore casino vessels which are operating in Mandovi river in the state capital.
"The order is issued under the Goa Excise Duty Rules," District Election Officer (DEO) Swapnil Naik told reporters today.
Naik said since these casinos are operational in Panaji city they have been asked to keep their bar counters shut.
Finance Department has issued a notification stating that all licensed premises "for the sale of liquor" and "consumption of liquor in public places" located within the jurisdiction of CCP and also within the jurisdiction of Panchayat areas of Taleigao, St Cruz, Chimbel, Merces, Nerul, Penha-de-France and Old Goa, shall be closed on March 5 at 0000 hrs and to continue till March 6 up to 2400 hrs in view of general elections to 30 wards of CCP.
It stated that the areas will remain closed at 0000 hrs to continue till 2400 hrs on the day of counting on March 8.
