The launch is part of an initiative of the same name organised by the Indian Army in collaboration with Comfed (Communication for Education and Development) to mark the golden jubilee year of the war.
"The 1965 war helped India to come out of the humiliation of the 1962 war and gave the Army confidence to triumph in the 1971 war which led to formation of Bangladesh," defence analyst Nitin Ghokhale said at the launch.
The CD talks about incidents from the 1965 war besides short stories related to ten heroes of the war, which have been detailed in Gokhale's book. The voice of Lal Bahadur Shastri retrieved from archives is also included in the CD.
FM radio stations have been already airing the four second audio clips, from the CD and five minute long stories have been introduced at various community radio stations in different cities.
"We needed the facts of 1965 war and we realised there is not much in the archives. That was when we contacted Nitin and he gave us those stories which are available nowhere," says Kohli.
