CID's Deputy Inspector General Diljit Thakur today said that the mobile forensic assistance also helped in tracing out 93 missing persons and 402 mobile instruments were tracked and recovered through mobile tracking.
The agency's Technical cell started call details register analysis (CDR) from and provided CDR, Tower dump data, IMEI search, tower location, customer application form and billing address to police investigating officers to track the criminals and solve the crime cases, he said.
The DIG said that the technical cell is functioning as mobile forensic laboratory and people get a pleasant surprise when they suddenly get back their lost or stolen mobiles due to prompt action by the police.
The cell periodically provides the IMEI of stolen phones to telephone service providers to track the SIM card being used on these phones, he said.
