Not just celebrities, but centenarian voters will also encourage youths and women to exercise their franchise in the December 4 Assembly elections.
District Election office (South West) today felicitated four out of 10 centenarians registered in the district and plan to rope them in for Systematic Voter Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) activities, focusing on increasing women and youth participation in the electoral process.
"They (senior citizens) are a source of inspiration for us. They have seen all, from the British rule to birth of the country to present development.
"Even today, they are enthusiastic about casting their votes, so when they can come out and vote in the elections, our youths and women should not lag behind," District Election officer (South West) Nikhil Kumar said.
"We will involve them in our SVEEP activities," he said.
Six out of 10 centenarians registered in South West district are women.
